About this place
The Blue Grotto Viewpoint offers a spectacular free view over one of Malta’s best-known natural landmarks. From the cliffs above Wied iż-Żurrieq, visitors can look down towards the dramatic limestone arch, surrounding sea caves and the open Mediterranean, with views extending towards the island of Filfla. The viewpoint above the caves as a striking place to see the Blue Grotto from land.
It is a great stop for sightseeing, photography and coastal scenery, especially on clear days when the water appears intensely blue. The viewpoint is separate from the boat trips that leave from Wied iż-Żurrieq below, so visitors can enjoy the panoramic view without paying for an excursion.
Please note: The viewpoint itself is free; Blue Grotto boat trips are separate and paid. Keep children supervised near cliff-side areas. It can be very sunny and exposed, so bring water and sun protection in warmer weather. Sea conditions and weather can affect boat operations, but the land viewpoint can still be visited independently.
