About this place
Rising above Victoria, the Cittadella is one of Gozo’s most important historic landmarks. Visitors can wander through the fortified streets, explore the bastions and enjoy wide views across the surrounding countryside.
The site has been inhabited for centuries and contains a mix of medieval and later architecture, making it a great free stop for sightseeing, photography and discovering Gozo’s history. Entry to the Cittadella itself is free; however, some museums and attractions located inside require a separate paid ticket.
Please note: The Cittadella itself is open 24 hours, and the fortified city and outdoor areas can be explored for free; however, the Visitors’ Centre and several museums inside have separate opening hours and require paid admission, with the Visitors’ Centre currently costing €5 for adults.
