About this place
Lower Barrakka Gardens are a quieter alternative to the Upper Barrakka Gardens, set on the historic bastions of Valletta overlooking the Grand Harbour. The gardens offer panoramic views across the water towards the Three Cities and are a lovely place to stop while exploring the capital.
At the centre of the gardens is the distinctive neoclassical monument dedicated to Sir Alexander Ball, surrounded by greenery, pathways and benches. The nearby Siege Bell War Memorial can also be easily visited as part of the same walk.
Please note: The gardens are free to enter and no booking is needed. They’re particularly nice around sunset or in the evening when the harbour lights become visible.
