About this place
San Anton Gardens are among Malta’s best-known public gardens, located beside San Anton Palace in Attard. The gardens were originally created by Grand Master Antoine de Paule in the 17th century and were opened to the public in 1882. Today, visitors can explore landscaped pathways, fountains, ornamental ponds and a wide variety of plants and mature trees.
The gardens offer a peaceful break from Malta’s busier sightseeing areas and are especially pleasant for a relaxed walk or family outing.
Please note: San Anton Palace itself is the official residence of Malta’s President and is separate from the public gardens. Visitors should remain within areas open to the public. The gardens are a particularly good option during warmer weather because there are mature trees and shaded areas, although sun protection and water are still recommended.
